Memoir

Writer, sailor, singer, lover of travel
and all kinds of wilderness

Long ago I lost a job teaching music at an elementary school, but found another one teaching writing and reading to middle schoolers. This freed me to indulge in my love of reading and writing in company of inquisitive minds. The result is my pursuit of publication for Inside Passages, a memoir that tells the story of my sailing life with my husband in the face of his long slow disease that threatened to tear our life apart.

For over thirty years on five different boats, often with our daughter Adrienne and cat Pearl, we sailed on the East Coast of the U.S. from Florida almost to the Canadian border and spent a year aboard our 42-foot boat Trio con Brio exploring the Bahamas — a true heaven on earth.
Along the way, my writing life has been nurtured not only by the Mystic Writers, but also by the women of A Room of Her Own writing retreats at Ghost Ranch in N.M., and my fellow writers at the CT Writing Project.

I’ve retired from teaching and love a good walk on the beach, or through the woods, followed by a shot of single malt in the evening while I plan my next adventure and future writing projects.
